You've Been Invited!
Once a litter has safely arrived, we know exactly how many healthy kittens we have and begin inviting approved families into that litter's Observation Group.
Because observation spots are intentionally limited, invitations are reserved for families we genuinely believe we'll be able to serve.
Reserving Your Observation Spot
To reserve your place in Observation, you'll have 24 hours from the time your invitation is sent.
To confirm your spot, you'll:

Submit a $250 non-refundable Observation Commitment Fee via Zelle

Sign our Observation Agreement electronically through DocuSign
Once both are complete, your observation spot is officially reserved and you'll begin receiving updates as the kittens grow.
If we don't hear from you within 24 hours, we'll assume you've decided to pass and will offer that observation opportunity to another approved family.
Why We Do It This Way
Observation isn't simply watching kittens grow. It's a collaborative process where we spend approximately eight weeks getting to know each kitten's personality while learning more about your home, lifestyle, and what you're hoping for in a companion.
Because observation spots are limited, reserving one means another family may not have the opportunity to participate in that litter.
The Observation Commitment helps ensure every reserved spot belongs to a family that is prepared to move forward if the right kitten is available.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the $250 applied toward my kitten?
Yes. Your Observation Commitment Fee is credited toward the purchase price of your kitten.
What if Catty Shack determines none of the kittens are the right fit?
Sometimes the best match simply isn't in a particular litter. If we determine we cannot confidently recommend one of the available kittens for your home, you may choose either:

a full refund of your Observation Commitment Fee, or

to transfer into a future approved observation group at no additional charge.
Our goal has always been successful lifelong matches—not simply placing kittens.
What if I decide I'd rather wait for another litter?
You're always welcome to do so. Because your original observation spot was reserved specifically for you, choosing to leave that litter forfeits your Observation Commitment Fee. If you're invited into a future litter's Observation Group, a new Observation Commitment Fee will be required to reserve that observation spot.
What if a kitten becomes unavailable?
Sometimes life happens. Although rare, a kitten may become unavailable due to illness, a health concern, or because we believe remaining with us is in the kitten's best interest. If we are unable to provide an appropriate kitten for you, you'll have the option to receive a full refund of your Observation Commitment Fee or transfer it to another approved observation group.
Is the Observation Commitment Fee transferable?
No. Observation invitations are extended specifically to approved families for a particular litter and cannot be transferred or sold to another person.

The Observation Commitment isn't designed to pressure anyone into choosing a kitten. It's designed to protect the time, trust, and opportunity of every family involved while allowing us to continue making thoughtful, temperament-based matches.
